Afghanistan to host Pakistan for three ODIs in Hambantota: sources

Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has decided to host Pakistan for three ODIs in Hambantota, Sri Lanka.

According to the sources, Afghanistan will host Pakistan for three ODIs in third week of August. Sri Lanka has been chosen as the venue keeping in mind the upcoming Asia Cup 2023, set to be played in Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

The official schedule of the series will be announced soon.

Currently, Pakistan is playing the last Test of two-match series against hosts in Colombo. The green caps, under the leadership of Babar Azam, are 1-0 up in the series. They beat Sri Lanka by four wickets to win Galle Test.

After this series, some of the Pakistan players including Babar will participate in the Lanka Premier League (LPL), starting on July 30. Babar will lead Colombo Strikers in the tournament which will be his first appearance in the Sri Lankan league.

Asia Cup will also be played in Sri Lanka from September 2. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will host the event in Multan, Lahore, Kandy and Colombo.

The event will start in Multan with hosts Pakistan taking on Nepal in the opening match on August 30.

Pakistan and India will play against each other on September 2 in Kandy. As many as nine games will be played in Sri Lanka including the final on September 17.

Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka are in the same group whereas the other group contains India, Pakistan and Nepal.
