Over 1m children to be administered polio drops in Multan

MULTAN, Dec 13 (APP):
A three-day national polio vaccination campaign is set to begin in Multan from December 15, aiming to immunize children across the district.

Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Nouman Siddiqe formally inaugurated the campaign at Shahbaz Sharif Hospital, where he administered polio drops to children and distributed gifts to encourage public participation.

The campaign will be conducted door-to-door, ensuring that all children under the age of five receive polio drops. According to the deputy commissioner, more than 1.02 million children are targeted to be vaccinated during the drive across the district.

District health officials, including Chief Executive Officer (Health) Dr. Soban Zia, Medical Superintendent Dr. Tanzil, and other senior officers, were present on the occasion.

To ensure the smooth execution of the campaign, a total of 4,399 teams have been formed across the district. These include 833 area in-charges to oversee operations and 135 Union Council medical officers responsible for medical supervision.

The campaign will feature 4,021 mobile teams, 230 fixed vaccination centers, and 148 transit teams. A special security plan has also been devised to ensure the safety of vaccination teams, Dr. Soban Zia said.
