Expired man’s liver successfully implanted in Pakistani patient

Lahore – January 11 (ONLINE): Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute (PKLI) has successfully implanted for the first time liver of a UAE-based Pakistani expired man to a local Pakistani patient.

According to the head of PKLI Dr. Faisal Saud Dar, kidneys and liver of the expired man were brought to Pakistan through a special flight.
The operation was carried out at KPLI Lahore with help of a four-member team of Abu Dhabi’s ‘Clue Land Clinic’.

Dr. Faisal Dar said that Pakistan and United Arab Emirates (UAE) were focusing on donations of human organs willingly granted after patients’ death. Two Pakistani patients have been cured so far with help of installation of donated organs and both the patients were now living a healthy life.
