Filmmaker Karan Johar has picked Ibrahim Ali Khan as Bollywood’s ‘Next Big Thing’!
The director and producer officially announced the launch of Ibrahim, son of Bollywood stars Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh in a social media post on Wednesday. Taking to his handle, KJo shared photos of the young debutant, and shared his excitement about his entry into the film industry, considering his long-standing connection with Ibrahim’s family, dating back 40 years.
In a lengthy note, he recalled his first meeting with Amrita when he was just 12 years old and highlighted her grace, talent, and warmth, while also describing his first impression of Saif as “young, suave, charming, and effortless.”

Johar, who worked Amrita in ‘Duniya’ shared, “I met Amrita or Dingy, how the loved ones like to call her…when I was just 12 years old. She did a film for @dharmamovies with my father called Duniya, and I remember so vividly the grace, the energy & the commandment over the camera she had. BUT, what I remember the most is the warmest chinese dinner with her and her hairstylist of the time after our first meeting, followed by a James Bond movie! She treated me like her own the second we met and that was the power of her grace…which lives on through her and her children too!.”
The director who worked with Saif in ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’ and ‘Kurbaan’, recalled their first meeting, saying, “With Saif, it was in Anand Mahendru’s office where I first met him. Young, suave, charming & effortless…VERY much like the first time I met Ibrahim. And a strong friendship that continues from our generation to luckily our kids!!! I know this family for 40 years.”
“I know this family for the heart they have,” he said adding that he also worked with Ibrahim’s sister Sara Ali Khan in ‘Simmba’ and promises many more ventures with her.
He further added, “Films are in their blood, their genes and their passion. We make way for a new wave of talent, one that I cannot wait for the world to see.”
KJo concluded his post saying, “So, stay tuned as @iakpataudi makes his way into your hearts and soon…onto the screens!”
While Karan’s note reflected on his long-standing friendship with Saif, Amrita and their kids, he also shares a close bond with Kareena Kapoor Khan.
This announcement comes just a day after the director hinted at the launch of his next star when he posted a reel with the caption, “23 debutant directors. 8 debutant actors. Countless stories told. Countless stories yet to be told. We at @dharmamovies & @dharmaticent are ready for a new chapter, a new wave.”
This will be Ibrahim’s first acting project under the director’s banner, but he had previously served as an assistant to KJo in ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’ starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt.
