NEW DELHI, APRIL 07 (ONLINE): Jaya Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan share a deep, heartfelt bond despite occasional Bollywood dramas. Notable incidents include Jaya’s upset over Shah Rukh’s remarks about Aishwarya Rai and her label of ‘Happy New Year’ as nonsensical, yet their relationship remains founded on mutual respect and real affection.
“I would’ve slapped him!” – Jaya Bachchan’s surprising remark about Shah Rukh Khan
Bollywood’s golden 2000s gave us iconic stars and unforgettable moments that continue to charm fans even today. And if there’s one film from that era that remains etched in our memories, it’s Karan Johar’s Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. Released in 2001, the film was more than just a box-office blockbuster — it gave us Poo, family goals, and one of the most emotionally rich mother-son relationships ever portrayed on screen, by Jaya Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan.
But what many fans might not know is that the bond between Jaya and Shah Rukh goes far beyond the silver screen. Over the years, they have shared a genuine and heartfelt connection. In fact, Shah Rukh’s youngest son AbRam reportedly believes Amitabh Bachchan is his Dadaji — a testament to how close the two families are.
However, there was a time when things got a little complicated. Taking a trip back to 2008 — the infamous Katrina Kaif birthday bash where Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan had a major fallout — Shah Rukh reportedly made some personal remarks involving Salman’s past relationships, including Aishwarya Rai. Naturally, this didn’t sit well with the Bachchan family.
In a candid interview later as reported in Bollywoodshaadis, Jaya Bachchan didn’t hold back. She revealed that she was indeed upset over Shah Rukh’s remarks about her daughter-in-law, Aishwarya. But she also expressed her deep affection for him. She recalled how Abhishek had personally called SRK and asked him to attend the premiere of Drona, and how graciously he had agreed. Jaya admitted, “I have a weakness for Shah Rukh.”
