Actress Banita Sandhu is still reeling from the news of her nomination for the prestigious Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards. Banita has been recognized for her work as part of the ensemble cast of the hit series

. “I still feel like they’re playing a prank on me,” she laughs, “I didn’t expect to see my name there, but it’s a wonderful experience, and I’m excited to go to LA and see everyone again.”
With a career spanning multiple continents, Banita has been away from Hindi movies for a while. However, now that she has shifted her base to Mumbai, she is keen to explore more work opportunities in Hindi movies. “I just met a producer now and he’s like, we wanted to work with you, but we didn’t know where you were. There is this sentiment that I just did these two movies, and I disappeared,” she shares, referring to her critically acclaimed performances in

The 27-year-old admits that she hasn’t been strategic in her choices, but instead has followed her heart and creativity. “I just go wherever my work takes me. I guess I haven’t been strategic in my choices. But now I am doing meetings. My days right now is a lot of training, a lot of classes, meetings, all afternoon, going home by the evening, then phone call, meetings with the UK,” she adds.
Interestingly, Banita expresses her desire to do more commercial potboilers in Bollywood, despite being known for her artsy roles. “I’m getting all the commercial stuff in the West, and getting all the very artsy stuff in India. In the UK and US, they see me as a commercial actress. I would actually love to do more commercial stuff here and maybe do some more artsy stuff in the West,” she notes.
