Lahore Arts Council, City of Literature inks MoU

LAHORE, Oct 13 (APP):Lahore Arts Council (LAC) on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)with the City of Literature here at Alhamra to strengthen the creativity, literary and cultural
traditions.

The MoU was signed by LAC Executive Director Ijaz Ahmad Minhas and Commissioner Lahore Capt (Retd) Muhammad Usman while Board of Governors Chairperson Muneza Hashmi, Renowned writer and scholar Dr Arifa Syeda were present on the occasion.

Muneza Hashmi said that Alhamra holds a prominent place in the literary world, adding that Alhamra was providing a conducive environment for literature and culture to flourish. She said that signing a MoU with Alhamra had a special importance.

Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Lahore Usman said that it was of special importance to sign MoU with Al-Hamra, adding “We appreciate the literary efforts of Maneza Hashmi”.

He said that under the auspices of the City of Literature, an international literary conference would soon be held besides universities across the city would hold literary activities.

LAC Executive Director Ejaz Ahmad Minhas said that receiving the status of City of Literature was an acknowledgment of our creative achievements, adding that Alhamra played a key role in this regard.

Executive Director Ejaz Ahmad Minhas while concluding the ceremony said that the city of Lahore was very much influenced by literature, film, music, handicrafts, folk art, getting the status of City of Literature was a recognition of our creative achievements.
