New Jersey (PNI) Pakistan’s filmmaker, Khalid Hasan Khan’s documentary on Afghan refugee children; was given the “Best of Fest Winner” award by the Seventh Annual Nassau Film Festival, held at Princeton Garden Theatre, New Jersey, United States, on 26th of May 2022.
Twinkling Without Shining deals with the quandary of young Afghan boys who were compelled to leave Afghanistan after years of economic turmoil and political disruption in Afghanistan.
The Festival Director and Founder of Nassau Film Festival, Lew Goldstein congratulated the filmmaker; Khalid Hasan Khan, adding; “We hope to see more quality films from you in the years to come”.
Khalid Hasan Khan told, “it’s the third consecutive award in three months, for Twinkling Without Shining; earlier the documentary has won the Special Jury Prize, from Golden Wheat Awards, from Turkey in March 2022, the Best Human Rights, from South Korea in April 2022 and now the Best of Fest Winner, from USA in May 2022.”
Twinkling Without Shining (Afghans in Search of Childhood) was directed and produced by Khalid Hasan Khan, with Mohsin S. Jaffri as exec producer and Syed Ovais Ali as associate producer of the project; with Zahid Raja as director of photography.
