Islamabad, Nov 12 (Online): The Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has formed a cabinet committee to recover the land of Quaid-e-Azam University (QAU) on Saturday.
In the light of the instructions given by the Supreme Court, the Prime Minister has formed Cabinet Committee comprising the Federal Minister of Law and the Minister of Information and Broadcasting.
According to the notification issued by Secretary to Prime Minister, Syed Tauqeer Shah, a committee headed by Federal Minister for Law Sardar Ayaz Sadiq including Advisor to the Prime Minister on Kashmir Affairs Qamar Zaman Kaira, Secretary Education, Chairman CDA, Vice-Chancellor Quaid-e-Azam University and Additional Attorney General Manoor Iqbal Dogal will formulate proposals and submit them to the Federal Cabinet.
On the application of Dr Aziz Ur Rehman against the usage of more than 250 kanals of land of Quaid-e-Azam University in Bahara Kahu Bypass Project and more than 500 acres of QAU land occupied by the land mafia, Apex court directed the government to constitute a probe committee.
Court also directed the federal government to take the academia into confidence and remove the reservations about their project.
On which a committee based on two federal ministers has now been formed, which will make recommendations on the matter in the next five days and place it before the federal cabinet.
The federal cabinet will decide on the proposed solution to the concerns of the academia regarding the project.
