Caretaker Pakistani Prime Minister visited Xinjiang University in Urumqi

Urumqi OCTOBER 20 (Online): Caretaker Prime Minister (PM) Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar reached Urumqi an autonomous region of Xinjiang during his ongoing visit to China and he visited Xinjiang University where Xinjiang University President Yao Qiang and members of Academia welcomed him.

While addressing to large gathering of scholars, researchers, educationists, faculty members and students, he said that his visit to Xinjiang represents a milestone in the sustainable relationship between Pakistan and China.

He reiterated Pakistan’s determination to further strengthen strategic cooperation between Pakistan and China at all times and in all circumstances for mutual peace, prosperity and development.

Caretaker PM Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar said that he appreciated the importance of Xinjiang regarding China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and also the historical role of the region as a center of communication as part of the ancient Karakoram Highway.

While referring to cultural and historical links between Xinjiang and Gilgit-Baltistan, Prime Minister expressed Pakistan’s interest in partnership with Xinjiang to promote infrastructure development, economic integration, trade and investment, agriculture, educational exchange, science and technology and people-to-people contacts of the two countries.

While highlighting the importance of people-to-people exchange and educational links and the important role of students in advancing the relations between countries and peoples, Prime Minister expressed his hope to the youth of Pakistan and China that they would further this friendship and brotherhood in the coming years. Earlier, prime minister was also given a briefing about the history of 99-year-old Xinjiang University in the history museum of the university.
