KARACHI, Sep 07 (APP):Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on Maritime Affairs Mahmood Maulvi Tuesday said the cargo ship stranded at Karachi beach has been freed successfully after 48 days.
Addressing a news conference, he said the cargo ship MV Heng Tong 77 has been taken over by the Maritime Affairs Ministry.
The ship would be allowed to float after complete safety checks, said the SAPM. He said all the expenses of the re-floating operation were borne by the owner of the ship.
Cargo ship Heng Tong 77 had stranded at the Karachi beach around 48 days ago when the rough sea caused the vessel to lose its anchors and it started drifting towards shallow water on July 21st.
