Power tariff likely to be scaled up by paisas 21 per unit

ISLAMABAD, Sep 17 (Online): Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) has filed application in National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) seeking increase in power tariff by paisas 21 per unit under the head of monthly fuel adjustment.

NEPRA will hear this petition on September 29.
CPPA has said in the application 13.63 billion units electricity was generated in the month of August. The overall cost of electricity remained Rs 137 billion. The most expensive electricity at the rate of Rs 35 per unit was generated from furnace oil. The cost of electricity generation per unit from LNG was incurred Rs 24 per unit.

CPPA said electricity at the cost of Rs 20 per unit was imported from Iran. Per unit cost against generation of electricity through coal was registered Rs 20 per unit.
