ISLAMABAD, Jan 21 (APP):Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar on Friday said that there is a dire need to expand tax network to achieve economic progress in a proper manner.
The people of Pakistan are hesitating to enter tax net, he said while talking to a private television channel.
He said, we will have to bring drastic changes in federal board of revenue system.
Lauding the policies of ministry of finance and State Bank of Pakistan, he said both the institutions had made efforts to improve growth rate.
Tax collection, he said has increased from 3700 billion rupees to 6100 billion rupees.
In reply to a question, he said the focus should be given on reducing expenditure and imports.
He said Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI), government has decreased the circular debt in short period of time. About transparency of government’s welfare schemes, he said, Ehsaas programe has been digitalized for better working.
