TEHRAN Nov 14 (Online): Pakistani delegation led by caretaker Energy Minister Muhammad Ali has reached Iran for negotiations on the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project.
According to the media report, caretaker energy minister Muhammad Ali will hold talks with the Iranian counterpart along with the delegation, in which Interstate Gas Systems officials will also participate.
While Pakistan will request an extension in the deadline for construction of pipeline on its part.
Pakistan has to build its part of pipeline to the Iranian border by March 2024 and if it is not built by the deadline under the agreement, Iran can file a case in the International Court of Arbitration and demand a fine of up to eighteen billion dollars from Pakistan.
Under the agreement, Pakistan has to import 750 million cubic feet of gas per day from Iran.
