Lahore, October 15 (Online): – The Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry has urged the Federal Finance Minister Shaukat Tareen and Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to extend the date for the filing of income tax returns till December 31, 2021.
In a statement issued here, the LCCI President Mian Nauman Kabir, Senior Vice President Rehman Aziz Chan and Vice President Haris Ateeq said that because of Covid-19, cumbersome FBR online system and trade bodies elections, a large number of businessmen cannot file their tax return yet.
The LCCI office-bearers said that extension in the date for the filing of income tax return will not only be a great favor to the business community but will also be in the interest of the government.
Elaborating the point, the LCCI office-bearers said that extension in the date for the filing of income tax returns will help government to achieve its revenue target besides trust building of the private sector.
They said that an extension in the date of filing of income tax returns will not only facilitate the business community but it would also send a very positive signal about private-public sector liaison.
“Extension in the date for the filing of income tax return till December 31, 2021 will give a good message that government honors the business community”, the LCCI office-bearers concluded.
