Electricity strikes consumers’ pockets ruthlessly not pickpocket

ISLAMABAD, May 31 (Online): National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has accorded approval to scale up power tariff by Rs 1.61 per unit.

The electricity consumers will have to make additional payments in the electricity bills of next month.

NEPRA will issue detailed decision later.

The matter of monthly fuel adjustment for the month of April came up for hearing.

According to NEPRA 10.23 percent electricity was generated from water and 16.06 percent from coal.

12.08 percent electricity was generated from imported coal and 3.98 percent electricity was generated less from local coal.

Additional burden of Rs over 3.72 billion was borne due to violation of merit order.
