Pakistan Played a Key Role in Preventing a Potentially Devastating Conflict; Practical Steps Should Be Taken to Grant Kashmiris Their Right to Self-Determination, Says Dr. Farooq Siddiqi

New York: President of the Kashmir Global Council, Farooq Siddiqi, while appreciating the effective, wise, and responsible role played by Pakistan and its friendly countries in de-escalating recent tensions between Iran, the United States, and Israel and establishing a ceasefire, said that Islamabad’s diplomatic efforts proved to be a positive and timely step not only for the region but for global peace as well.

He stated that Pakistan demonstrated patience, wisdom, and proactive diplomacy in a highly sensitive and critical situation, playing a key role in saving the international community from a potentially catastrophic confrontation.

Farooq Siddiqi paid tribute to Pakistan’s political and military leadership, especially Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir, saying that their vision, courageous decisions, and balanced global strategy played an important role in averting a major crisis.

He further added that Pakistan’s leadership not only prioritized regional stability but also fulfilled its responsibility toward global peace in an exemplary manner. Referring to the loss of lives and property, deaths of innocent civilians, destruction of infrastructure, and negative impact on the global economy caused by the conflict, he said that such wars prove disastrous not only for the countries involved but for the entire world. Had a timely ceasefire not been achieved, the world could have been pushed toward a potential Third World War with unimaginable consequences.

The President of the Kashmir Global Council said that Pakistan’s role is commendable at the global level and has demonstrated that responsible states believe in resolving conflicts through dialogue rather than force. He expressed hope that global powers and international institutions would adopt the same spirit to take serious steps toward resolving other long-standing disputes, particularly the issue of Jammu and Kashmir.

He stated that the Jammu and Kashmir dispute has remained unresolved for the past 78 years, during which millions of Kashmiris have sacrificed their lives. He added that restrictions imposed by India on Kashmiri political leadership, serious human rights violations, and ongoing oppression present a challenge to the global conscience.

Calling these actions crimes against humanity, he expressed concern over the silence of the international community. Farooq Siddiqi urged the United Nations, global powers, and human rights organizations to play their role in resolving the Kashmir issue through dialogue on a priority basis and to take practical steps to grant the Kashmiri people their fundamental right to self-determination.

He concluded by saying that just as diplomacy helped prevent war in the recent crisis, similarly, a long-standing dispute like Kashmir can also be resolved through peaceful means. He added that the Kashmir Global Council will continue its efforts to promote global peace, justice, and human rights, and will effectively highlight the voice of the Kashmiri people worldwide.
