LG polls to open new vistas of progress, prosperity in AJK: Tanveer Ilyas

MIRPUR (AJK): Oct 14 (APP): Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan on Friday said the local government (LG) elections would open new vistas of progress and prosperity for the people of the liberated territory.

In a statement issued here on Friday, he termed the announcement of holding LG elections a big achievement, saying that his government fulfilled another election promise.

It may be noted that the Election Commission of AJK has released the schedule of LG elections, which will be held in the state after 31 years.

Highlighting the importance of the municipal elections, the AJK PM said his government would provide all possible facilities to the election commission to hold the LG polls.

Urging the party workers to get ready for the LG elections, he said, “The workers will have to work jointly and move forward together with dedication and passion.”

“The road to success,” he said, “comes through hard work and dedication and it cannot be achieved by hollow slogans.”

Earlier, while presiding over the PTI’s parliamentary party meeting, Tanveer Ilyas said, “By breaking decades-long status quo and political inertia in the country, his government has generated an optimism and rekindled a new hope amongst the young generation to live independently and with dignity.”

“Over the past 23 years Imran Khan created cracks in the country’s rotten political system thereby challenging the forces who were forcibly imposed on the country”, he said, adding that now the nation has awakened, and they knew the difference between good and bad.

Meanwhile, the AJK PM also visited various areas of Muzaffarabad city and mingled with the citizens. On the occasion, Commissioner Muzaffarabad Masoodur Rehman, Chairman Muzaffarabad Development Authority (MDA) Syed Azhar Gilani, and Vice Chairman Local Government Sardar Iftikhar Rashid were accompanying him.

Tanveer Ilyas directed the commissioner, and the chairman MDA to speed up measures to beautify the capital, especially the entertainment places.

Stressing on the cleanliness, the PM said encroachments should be removed and the city should be made attractive. He also issues instructions to restore Bara Dari and establish a tourist point there.
