Speaking at a well-attended meeting held at the residence of Sardar Aftab Roshan Khan, a Kashmiri activist, he said that the Indian move was in contravention of UN resolutions, which prohibit any unilateral action to change the disputed nature of the State of Jammu and Kashmir.

“Because of the illegal and unilateral actions taken by the Modi government, the situation in Kashmir has deteriorated and the territory is now at the brink of genocide,” Dr, Fai said, citing a recent report by Genocide Watch, a body which is best known for its work in the area of genocide studies.

“Let us send a clear message to the world community that global Kashmiri diaspora and friends of Kashmir stand committed to carry on the struggle till the final settlement of the Kashmir dispute.”

Sardar Shoaib Irshad, joint Secretary of Kashmir American Welfare Association (KAWA), said that the peaceful protest in New York will be held at on Sunday, August 4, 2024.
