LONDON (PNI) Kashmiris and their allies knocked British parliament this week, seeking action on Kashmir by the UK government.
The protest outside the parliament coincided with British top diplomat David Lammy’s trip to India.
“It is no usual business for the British government anymore,” said Fahim Kayani, leader of the Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK, who led the protests.
Calling on Lammy to seek ethical and moral-based relations with New Delhi, Kayani denied the newly-appointed British top diplomat of UK’s responsibility on Kashmir.
“Kashmir is under illegal occupation by India since the British rightfully fled South Asia but left Kashmir resolution unfinished,” Kayani said.
Earlier that day, Kayani chaired a conference of British lawmakers, professionals, practitioners and activists inside the parliament to seek attention on Kashmir.
The conference reaffirmed its commitment to Kashmiri right to self-determination.
Muhammad Ghalib, leader of the Tehreek—Kashmir UK, called on the ruling Labour Party to stand to the occasion and hold India accountable to its crimes in Kashmir.
“Labour Party has no time to waste. It must immediately start its work on Kashmir policy which is based on UN resolutions and universal right to self-determination,” Ghalib told the protest demonstration.
