LONDON (PNI) The Kashmiri diaspora groups in the UK have blasted the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB) for ignoring to raise UN-designated Kashmir dispute in their campaign to influence UK premier’s India visit.
“This is blatant and deliberate ignorance on part of those at the MCB to avoid Kashmir in its campaign to urge Prime Minister Boris Johnson to raise the issue of internationally recognized occupied territory of Jammu and Kashmir with Indian government,” Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK said in a statement, referring to one-sided MCB campaign.
The MCB has launched a campaign to urge UK premier to raise issue of persecution of Indian Muslims with fascist Modi government when he travels to India this week. Johnson will meet Modi on Friday.
“But the MCB has surprisingly forgot to even mention Kashmir. This is disgusting on part of the MCB leadership. Kashmir is under illegal military occupation of India which needs to be priority of any advocacy group or those who believe in universal human rights,” the Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK said.
Kashmiris and their allies including Pakistani diaspora groups in the UK and in Europe have been the first and prominent among all communities to raise the persecution of Muslims in India, said the Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK.
“It is completely unacceptable to divide the human rights on the basis of likings and disliking; it seems the MCB has come under the influence of India’s sarakari Musalman which has influenced it to drop Kashmir from its campaign,” the Kashmiri diaspora group said.
It said Kashmir dispute “is not just an outcome of failed promises by India and international community but silence of wider Indian Muslim community.”
“Time is ripe for those who intend to avoid taking name of Kashmir, else, their names will be mentioned among Mir Jafars and Mir Sadiqs for their hypocrisy and facilitating illegal military occupation of Kashmir by India,” Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK warned.
It called on the MCB leadership to immediately raise Kashmir issue in their ongoing campaign to correct their mistake.
“Kashmiris have come to fore speaking for the rights of Muslims in India despite themselves being under worst military occupation,” the Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK said.
