JK dispute’s ‘just solution’ pivotal for South Asia’s stability: FM Qureshi

Islamabad – October 8 (Online): Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Friday termed ‘a just solution of Jammu and Kashmir dispute imperative for peace and stability in region’ and said that Pakistan is ready to cooperate with its neighbors and world powers for South Asia’s economic uplift.

According to details, US deputy secretary of States Wendy Sherman, who is on a two day visit to Pakistan, Friday called on Shah Mehmood Qureshi here at the foreign ministry.

During the meeting, bilateral relations between the two countries, Afghanistan and regional peace and stability were discussed.
Wendy passed on her condolences on tragic deaths of citizens during yesterday’s Baluchistan earthquake.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that Pakistan and US hold a consensus on Afghanistan issue. We hope that Afghanistan’s new setup would work for betterment and uplift of the Afghan people.

He stressed that a proper dialogue between the two countries was ‘necessary’ for mutual for the mutual benefits of two countries as well as promotion of regional objectives.

Foreign Minister said that Jammu and Kashmir issue must be solved as per the aspirations of people of Jammu and Kashmir to uplift the living standard of people of South Asia and region’s peace and stability.
