Srinagar, FEB 01 (ONLINE): : The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has called upon India and Pakistan to engage in meaningful dialogue for the resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the United Nations resolutions, emphasizing that lasting peace in the region hinges on a just and fair settlement.
According to Media , APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas, in a statement issued from Srinagar, stressed that it is the moral and legal responsibility of the UN Secretary-General to address the 78-year-old unresolved dispute, which continues to linger on the global agenda.
The APHC statement underscored the urgent need for international intervention, highlighting the relentless cycle of fear, state-sponsored atrocities, and draconian laws imposed on the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) under India’s Hindutva-driven colonial agenda.
Referring to the revocation of IIOJK’s special status on August 5, 2019, the spokesman said that India has systematically altered laws to seize agricultural and residential lands, with the ultimate aim of transforming the Muslim-majority territory into a demographic minority.
Denouncing the growing repression, Minhas stated that communal forces have unleashed a reign of terror against the indigenous population of IIOJK. The spokesman lamented that the Gujjar-Bakarwal community is being systematically uprooted through the ruthless demolition of their homes. He further asserted that India has shamelessly reneged on its own constitutional commitments, stripping Jammu and Kashmir of its special status and eroding its distinct identity to push forward the Hindutva-driven agenda of the RSS.
The APHC lauded the resilience of the Kashmiri people and their unwavering commitment to justice and human values. It warned that failure to resolve the dispute could escalate tensions, potentially leading to nuclear conflict, while a just resolution could pave the way for peace, stability, and prosperity in the region.
