AJK PM for cancellation, re-tendering past contracts defying prevalent rules

MIRPUR (AJK): Dec 31 (APP):Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Sardar Abdul Qayyum Niazi Friday directed the development authorities to cancel and re-tender all the contracts awarded in the past defying the prevalent rules.

“Steps should be intensified to enhance the beauty of the cities and development authorities should increase their revenue instead of becoming burden on the state exchequer”, he said while addressing a high level meeting held with Muzaffarabad, Mirpur, Bagh, Neelam and Pearl Development Authorities, in the State metropolis.

The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary Physical Planning and Housing Fayyaz Ali Abbasi, Chairman Development Authority Muzaffarabad Syed Azhar Gilani, DG Mirpur Development Authority Imran Khalid, Chairman Development Authority Bagh Muhammad Shafaat Khan, Chairman Pearl Development Authority Sardar Arshad Niazi and Chairman Neelam Syed Sadaqat Hussain Shah.

The heads of development authorities briefed the Prime Minister on the issues and problems of the development authorities and their future plans.
It was decided in the meeting that the record of development authorities would be made online.

Special measures will be taken to enhance the beauty of all cities and bring them in line with modern requirements, the meeting was informed.
AJK Prime Minister Sardar Abdul Qayyum Niazi directed the audience that steps should also be taken to ensure the achievement of the goal for which they have been set up and corruption will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Operations against encroachments in cities should be carried out in collaboration with the administration, he advised the authorities heads.
The Prime Minister said that those who took plots in various housing schemes, especially overseas and steps should be taken immediately to handover possession to the plot owners.

All the development authorities have to make the records of the plots online so that people overseas can see the records of their properties from anywhere in the world.

The Prime Minister said that special focus should be laid on enhancing the beauty of Muzaffarabad and Mirpur city.

The government is considering special packages for the development authorities to complete the projects so that the ongoing projects can be completed in time.

He said that special attention should be paid to town planning and future challenges should be kept in view and effective planning should be done before starting housing schemes.
