Supreme Court to hear the case related to addition of taxes in electricity bills today

ISLAMABAD Oct 01 (Online): The Supreme Court (SC) will hear the case related to adding the amount of fuel price adjustment and quarterly tariff adjustment in the electricity bills today (Monday).

Questions will be asked from the companies.

A three-member bench under the chairmanship of Chief Justice Qazi Faiz Isa will hear the case and the special bench will hear the case related to electricity as well as civil, criminal, tax, NAB, service and other general cases.

Information notices have been issued in the case regarding electricity bills.

The lawyers of the federal government and other distribution companies will appear in the court. The Attorney General of Pakistan will also appear.

1090 petitions were filed in the Supreme Court by various electric supply companies.

It should be noted that the price of electricity was increased by 1 rupee 46 paise a few days ago due to fuel adjustment.

In this regard, NEPRA has issued a notification according to which the increase has been made in the context of the July monthly fuel adjustment, the increase will not be applicable to electric and lifeline customers, the increase will be charged to the customers in September bills.
