Supreme Court adjourns hearing of PTI chairman petition against his conviction in toshakhana case till IHC order

ISLAMABAD, Aug 24 (Online): Supreme Court (SC) has adjourned hearing of PTI chairman petition against his conviction in Toshakhana case till Islamabad High Court (IHC) order.

A 3-member bench of SC presided over by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial is hearing Toshakhana case.

At the inception of hearing the CJP remarked hearing is still underway in IHC. Chief Justice (CJ) IHC is hearing the case which is appreciable. I appreciate efforts of CJ. IHC is seeing the matter. it will be better to let IHC give decision on this matter.

CJP Umar Ata Bandial inquired has any one come from Attorney General (AG) office. We will ask about the situation of staying of PTI chairman in jail in today’s order. We will ask from AG in what condition chairman PTI has been kept in jail.

The SC sought report about facilities to chairman PTI in jail.

Sardar Latif Khosa counsel for chairman PTI said arguments have been given on all points in high court.

The CJP remarked it was your complaint that you were not being heard. Your all arguments have been heard. You should hope from IHC that it would give decision on your points.

Justice Jamal Mandokhail inquired what outcome has come in respect of IHC proceedings.

CJP remarked it is beauty of system first decision should come from high court then it should come to SC.

Justice Jamal Mandokhail said don’t criticize judges of IHC.

Justice Umar Ata Bandial remarked we will continue to give decisions as per law and constitution according to our pledge.
