SC dismisses bail plea of accused arrested in tax fraud

ISLAMABAD, Jan 03 (Online): Supreme Court (SC) has dismissed the bail plea of the accused arrested in tax fraud being the plea withdrawn.

Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa has remarked white collar crime is not an ordinary crime.

A 3-member bench of SC presided over by the CJP Qazi Faez Isa heard the bail after arrest plea filed by the accused Ammar Rafiq Wednesday.
The CJP remarked white collar crime is not an ordinary crime. White collar crime causes enormous loss to the country. Such a big claim was made on fake invoices.

The CJP inquired how can one push money forcibly in some ones else account. This is not ordinary crime. On what basis we should grant bail to the accused.

Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar remarked this is fraud of billion of rupees.

The counsel for the petitioner took the plea the accused did nothing? This all job is of tax consultant.

The CJP remarked the consultant afforded benefit to the accused through fraud.

The counsel for the petitioner said “I withdraw my application.
