LHC rejects the petition against reducing life time disqualification period to 5 years

LAHORE, March 22 (Online): Lahore High Court (LHC) has dismissed the petition against reducing the life time disqualification period to 5 years by parliament. Lahore High Court’s Justice Shahid Bilal Hasan announced the reserved judgment on the petition filed by Azhar Siddique advocate Friday.

The court said the applications was non-maintainable
Counsel for the federal government opposed the petitions.

The petitioner had taken plea in his petition that parliament made amendment in law by decreasing the life time disqualification period to five years. As per rules parliament cannot make amendment in life time disqualification law through specific members.
The petitioner had requested to nullify the law on reducing the life time disqualification period to five years.

Justice Shahid Bilal Hassan while announcing reserved judgment on the petition of Azhar Siddique advocate dismissed the plea against reducing the life time disqualification period to 5 years.
