LHC orders for providing details of Punjab govt decision regarding wheat

LAHORE, April 30 (ONLINE): Lahore High Court (LHC) has ordered to provide details of Punjab government decision regarding wheat.

The petition filed by advocate Farhat Manzoor Chandio against non purchasing wheat from the farmers by Punjab government came up for hearing before justice Shahid Karim of LHC Tuesday.

LHC remarked court will not interfere in government policy matters. Punjab cabinet should inform the court about wheat decision on next hearing.

The petitioner has taken plea government issued policy for purchasing wheat at the rate of Rs 3900 per maund. Government was to start purchasing wheat from farmers from April 22.

Advocate Farhat Manzoor Chandio said in the petition government has not started purchasing wheat as pet its policy. The farmers are forced to sell wheat at cheaper rate to wheat mafia due to rains.

The petitioner has requested the court to issue immediate order to government to purchase wheat from farmers.
