IHC reserves judgment on petition seeking postponement of general election

ISLAMABAD, Dec 21 (Online): Islamabad High Court (IHC) has reserved judgment on the petition seeking postponement of general election.
The petition seeking court’s order for postponement of general election till the scrutiny of fake National Identity Cards (NIC) of Afghan refugees came up for hearing before single bench of IHC led by Chief Justice (CJ) Aamer Farooq Thursday.

The petitioner Aftab Alam appeared in the court alongwih his counsel `Malik Akhtar Abbas.

During the hearing of the case counsel for the petitioner argued that the process of return of Afghan refugees to their homeland is underway. Disclosure has been made Afghan refugees have got fake Identity cards and their name have been included in voters lists on the basis of these fake identity cards.
Questions will be raised on general election due to fake identity cards of Afghan refugees. Use of Pakistani passport by Afghan refugees is security threat. Therefore, the court is requested to order for postponement of the general election till the scrutiny of identity cards of Afghan refugees.

CJ IHC Aamer Farooq remarked Election Commission has issued election schedule. How can the court now issue order for postponement of general election.
