General elections in 90 days: A three-member bench led by CJP to hear today

ISLAMABAD Oct 22 (Online): A three-member bench headed by the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) will hear the case regarding holding general elections in 90 days in the Supreme Court from Monday (Today).

Notices have also been issued to the parties in this case.

Remember that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Jamaat-e-Islami and the Supreme Court Bar Association filed applications in the Supreme Court for the date of holding general elections within 90 days of the dissolution of the National Assembly.

President of the Supreme Court Bar Association Abid Shahid Zuberi had also challenged the decision of the Council of Common Interests (CCI) to conduct the general elections within 90 days and conduct elections under new constituencies in the petition filed under Article 184/3 of the Constitution.

In the petition filed in the Supreme Court, it has been argued that the notification issued in the light of the decision of the Council of Common Interests should be declared illegal.
