Federal govt degraded judiciary: says detailed decision in audio leaks commission case

ISLAMABAD, Sep 08 (Online): Supreme Court (SC) has maintained in alleged audio leaks inquiry commission case that federal government degraded the judiciary.

The SC has issued detailed decision in the matter of objection on judges in audio leaks inquiry commission.

The Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial wrote the decision.

It was maintained in the decision there is no importance in the eyes of law of objections raised on 3 judges. The petition regarding objection was filed to harass member of bench instead of good intent.

The court noted the federal government delayed the matter by using different tactics.

The federal government degraded the court and the act of degradation was started from March 01, 2023.

It was maintained in written decision it was said from March 01 that the speaker petition was rejected with 4-3 majority. Federal government hid itself behind Election commission review petition instead of challenging April 4 decision.
Federal government objective was to justify its inaction. Later the parliament approved Supreme court review of judgment and order law which has been declared unconstitutional by SC.

The SC maintained federal government filed petitions to separate judges from several constitutional cases. A petition on the baseless grounds of clash of interests and bias came in audio leaks commission.

The aim of filing petition carrying objection was to separate CJP from the bench.

It has been said in the decision federal ministers gave statements against judges hearing different cases. The ministers gave provocative statements in the case pertaining to election of provincial assemblies. SC demonstrated patience and tolerance on this attitude of federal government.
