LAHORE, JAN 04 (ONLINE): Lahore High Court (LHC) while allowing wife to go with her husband in choice marriage case has ordered the husband to increase Mehr from one thousand dollars to ten thousands dollars.
Justice Farooq Haider of LHC took up for hearing petition filed by father of lady whereby request was made for recovery the lady from illegal custody of her husband.
Local Police presented couple in the court following issuance of notice.
In reply to investigation by court the lady told she is adult and she has married as per self choice.
Denying the allegations of kidnapping or threats she told the court she wants to live with her husband instead of going with her father.
The judge inquired from husband of the lady about his monthly income.
The husband told the court he worked in US and he earns 2000 dollars monthly.
Justice Farooq Haider remarked one thousand dollars are insufficient as mehr. The amount should be increased to ensure security of lady.
Bride groom filed affidavit under the order of the court wherein mehr amount was fixed 10000 dollars.
The judge wrapped up the petition in light of statement of lady.
