LAHORE, Nov 07 (Online): Accountability Court (AC) Lahore while deferring the decision of Ashiana Iqbal reference of Rs 660 million against Shehbaz Sharif and others has sought more assistance.
The court remarked “following the order of Supreme Court (SC) ambiguity has surfaced. It is better if we seek clarification from some institution.
Judge Malik Ali Zulqarnain of AC Lahore took up the case for hearing Tuesday.
The court was to announce decision on November 07 following completion of arguments in Ashiana Iqbal reference.
The court remarked ambiguity has surfaced after SC order.
The court halted the decision of Ashiana Iqbal reference till the interpretation of SC decision. It made it clear decision was to be announced today in Ashiana Iqbal reference. But we have seen media reports. SC has stopped from announcing decision.
The counsel for accused was of the view SC order influences the cases of those who were acquitted after amendment. We present copy of SC decision. It will clear the matter.
Counsel for NAB said this case has been heard on merit. SC decision does not influence it.
AC judge remarked SC has stopped ACs from giving final decision and we are bound to SC decision.
The court while directing to present copy of SC decision adjourned the hearing for some time.
The court remarked if we seek clarification from some forum then it is better.
The court remarked not only I, judges of ACs are confused with reference to it. We cannot go against SC decision.
The court adjourned hearing of the case till November 18.
