Contempt of court plea against police officers: Court adjourns hearing of case

LAHORE, Nov 13 (Online): Lahore High Court (LHC) has adjourned till November 16 the hearing of petition filed against police for non escorting the former Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Chadhry Pervaiz Elahi to home safely.

The contempt of court petition filed by Qaisra Elahi wife of Pervez Elahi against DIG operations and other police officers came up for hearing before single bench of LHC led by Justice Sultan Tanvir Monday.

DIG Imran Kishwar appeared in the court.
The junior lawyer in the legal team of Pervaiz Elahi while requesting for adjourning the hearing of the case took the plea senior counsel is not present. Therefore, court should adjourn the hearing of the case.
The court while accepting the plea of legal team of Pervaiz Elahi adjourned the hearing of the case till November 16.

It is pertinent to mention here that the petitioner had requested LHC that the police officers did not escort Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi to home safely despite court’s orders. The court should initiate the contempt of court’s proceedings against police officers.
