ISLAMABAD, OCT 12 (ONLINE): Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) Islamabad has sought security report with reference to chairman PTI from Superintendent Adiala jail.
Asad Umar appeared in ATC Islamabad led by Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain during the hearing of judicial complex vandalism and Election Commission protest case.
Jan Muhammad counsel for chairman PTI and prosecutor Raja Naveed also appeared in ATC.
Defence counsel Jan Muhammad filed petition regarding production of chairman PTI in the court saying chairman PTI is on bail in these cases and jail trial cannot be conducted.
Defence counsel Jan Muhammad said it is responsibility of state to see arrangement for bringing accused from jail to court.
The responsibility for presenting the accused in court rests with police.
He said chairman PTI will have to be brought from jail to court for trial. Chairman PTI himself will come to court and say yes or no. If court issues order then it is binding on police to present chairman PTI to court.
The defence counsel John Muhammad said chairman PTI is on bail and how can he be kept in jail. Chairman PTI has appeared on every date. He has been appearing in trial court too.
Prosecutor Raja Navid said in the court has to see the present situation with reference to security of chairman PTI. In the past several other cases have been registered due to appearance of chairman PTI in the court.
He said PTI itself said earlier chairman PTI was facing life threat. Today it says produce chairman PTI in the court.
Prosecutor Raja Navid requested the court to seek report from jail superintendent for presenting chairman PTI in the court.
Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain said if any security situation will not be created in the event of production of chairman PTI in the court.
Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain directed Superintendent Adiala jail to make consultation with interior ministry and submit report.
