Peshawar, May 30 (Online): Peshawar High Court (PHC) has ordered counsel for Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to inform the court after asking from the authorities that when they are going to hold Senate election in KP.
The petition filed against postponing Senate election in KP came up for hearing in PHC Thursday.
A two members bench of PHC comprising Justice SM Attique Shah and Justice Waqar Ahmad heard the case. Justice Waqar Ahmad remarked people of KP are being affected for not holding Senate election. There is no representation of the province in the Senate. The court ordered the counsel for ECP to ask from the authorities and tell when they are holding Senate election.
The court announced interval in the hearing. It is to mention here that PTI leader and former senator Azam Swati had challenged ECP decision in PHC for linking Senate Election on March 30 in KP to administering oath to the members of assembly who were elected on reserved seats.
