Abolition of law of life time disqualification challenged

LAHORE, OCT 14 (ONLINE): Abolition of law of life time disqualification through amendment in election act has been challenged in Lahore High Court (LHC).

Citizen Mashkoor Hussain has filed petition through Nadim Sarwar advocate in LHC making Election Commission (EC) and federal government respondents.

The petitioner has taken plea that life time disqualification has been abolished and period of disqualification has been fixed five years through amendment in election act. Supreme Court has already interpreted article 62/F-A of the constitution. Amending law after interpretation of supremecourt is violation of section 3 of article175 of the constitution.

The petitioner has requested the court to nullify amendment in election act.
