The government prefers to adopt environment-friendly alternative measures, Shahbaz Sharif

ISLAMABAD, JUNE 5th (Online): Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif has expressed Pakistan’s unwavering determination to deal with plastic pollution and reduce the use of plastic.

In his message on the occasion of World Environment Day PM Shehbaz Sharif has emphasized the need to deal with plastic pollution under the global concept of eliminating plastic pollution.

He has said that as one of the ten major pollution-affected countries in the world, Pakistan is aware of the need for urgent measures.

He said that the government has prioritized adoption of environment-friendly alternatives and is working actively on the law regarding ban on use of plastic for Islamabad

The proposed law will contain a comprehensive action plan and plan to reduce and then ban the production of single-use plastics.

As an expression of the federal government’s determination to reduce plastic waste in Pakistan, Shahbaz Sharif directed to stop the utilization of single-use plastic in the Prime Minister’s (PM) House.

The Ministry of Climate Change will take steps to stop the use of plastic bottles in federal ministries and divisions

The PM has urged all parties including citizens, businessmen, civil society organizations and media that they renew their commitment to tackling plastic pollution and protecting the biodiversity of planet for future generations.
