Identification of forest department land in one and half year is beyond comprehension: SC

ISLAMABAD, FEB 09 (Online): Supreme Court (SC) has directed representatives of private companies which has identified forest department land to appear before it in person in the case pertaining to establishment of private housing societies on Forest department Sindh.

The court has also called reply from forest department Sindh on the complaint of petitioners.

A 3-member bench of SC presided over by Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan took up the case for hearing Thursday.

Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan remarked during the hearing of the case spending one and half year in identifying forest department land is beyond comprehension.

Does the satellite move so slow. It is being told that satellite images are not developing since June 2022.

Additional Advocate General Sindh told the court forest department has filed interim report till now. The time for December of this year has been given for filing detailed report.

Reports are being delayed due to larger area.

The counsel Salah ud Din told the court in the report filed by forest department in high court it has been accepted that 75 acres land has been encroached.

Under the orders of SC the possession of 221 acres land was returned to forest department. According to Google map this land has again been encroached. On all the encroached land either the housing societies have been built or it is being cultivated.

The forest department had taken plea before that forests will be grown on recovered land.

The court while seeking detailed report from the forest department Sindh on the allegations by the petitioner adjourned the hearing of the case for four weeks.
