ISLAMABAD – June 8 (ONLINE) Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said Wednesday delta regions along with country’s coastal areas were vanishing quickly due to unjust control over rivers, it emerged.
In his message on World Oceans’ day, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said reports have revealed that number of large fish in oceans has decreased by a ninety percent, while the population of coral reefs has been destroyed fifty percent.
Bilawal Bhutto said that if the current rate of sea erosion continues, it is feared that the sea will reach Thatta city by 2050. He termed the situation to be of great concern for whole world community.
In his message, Bilawal said the international community and marine biologists should unite to save the oceans from damage caused by human selfishness.
World Oceans Day is being celebrated all over the world including Pakistan on June 8 every year under the auspices of the United Nations.
