Earthquake leaves 2,000 die 9000 injured, thousands under rubbles in Afghanistan

KABUL Oct 08 (Online): As a result of the disaster caused by the earthquake in Afghanistan, the death toll has exceeded 2 thousand while the number of injured has exceeded 9 thousand.

According to media reports, the spokesman of the Afghan government has said that the death toll due to the earthquake has exceeded 2,000.

Searches for survivors have continued in the slums of western Afghanistan, where thousands are still buried under the rubble.

It has been reported that after the 6.3 magnitude earthquake that occurred on Saturday, due to 8 severe aftershocks, the areas located 30 km northwest of the provincial capital Herat were badly shaken. It was near the big city of Herat.

The American Geological Survey said that the epicenter of the earthquake was in Paktia province and the depth of the earthquake was recorded at 10 km.

Strong tremors of the earthquake were felt near Herat, after the earthquake in Herat, many aftershocks of magnitude 5.6 occurred, apart from Afghanistan, the tremors of the earthquake were also felt in Iran and Turkmenistan.

This catastrophic earthquake occurred at 11 am local time.
