ISLAMABAD, Dec 23 (Online):Today (Saturday) is last date for filing nomination papers in connection with general election-2024.
Process for collecting and filing nomination papers by the political leaders aspiring to participate in general election is continuing.
Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) a day before extended the date for filing nomination papers for two days on the demand of political parties.
As per revised schedule of ECP scrutiny of nomination papers will be conducted from December 25 to 30.
According to ECP the appeal against the decision of Returning Officer (RO) can be filed till January 03.
Polling will be held on February 8, 2024 as per schedule.
On the other side 89 candidates filed nomination papers for National Assembly (NA) seats in Lahore 321 candidates filed nomination papers for 16 NA seats and 1270 candidates for 51 seats of provincial assembly in Balochistan.
78 candidates have come face to face on 4 NA seats in Rawalpindi. 243 candidates filed nomination papers on 8 provincial assembly seats.
45 candidates have entered into electoral arena for contesting election on 3 NA seats in Islamabad.
As many as 54 candidates filed nomination papers for 5 NA seats in Peshawar.
Nomination papers of PTI founder were filed from NA-89 Mianwali.
