Imran, Fawad could not be indicted in contempt of EC case

ISLAMABAD, DEC 19 (ONLINE): Former chairman of PTI Imran Khan and former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry could not be indicted in contempt of Election Commission (EC) case Tuesday.

Member EC Nisar Durrani heard the contempt of EC case. EC members Shah Mehmood Jatoi, Babar Hussain Bharwana and Justice (Retd) Ikram Ullah were also present in the court.

Fawad Chaudhry said in his statement “we were neither provided copies of case nor were our documents allowed to come inside. Without documents I cannot tell what allegations are against me.

Hearing of contempt of EC case was adjourned till December 27.

A 4-membere bench of EC reached Adiala jail under Nisar Durrani , member of commission to hear the case.

At the inception of hearing of contempt of EC case, Fawad Chaudhry filed petition seeking open trial in Adiala jail.

He requested that local and international media be allowed to cover jail trial. Open jail hearing be conducted to ensure transparency.

In the petition it was said that Fawad Chaudhry is not allowed to meet his family and lawyers. Without local and international media trial is objectionable.
He requested for issuing order to conduct open trial.
He filed petition for open trial through Faisal Chaudhry advocate.

Haba Fawad, wife of Fawad Chaudhry and Faisal Chaudhry brother of former federal minister also remained present in the court during the hearing of the case.
