Indian Supreme Court rules out legalization of same-sex marriage

NEW DELHI Oct 17 (Online): The Supreme Court of India has shown its inability to legalize same-sex marriage.

According to a foreign news agency, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of India has given a decision that making same-sex marriage law is the purview of the Parliament.

The Chief Justice said that there is a degree of agreement and disagreement on same-sex marriages as to how far we can go.

In the Supreme Court bench, 2 out of 4 judges agreed with the stand of the Chief Justice of India, while the stand of the remaining two judges is yet to come.

According to media reports, the bench heard the arguments in the case between April and May and delivered its verdict yesterday.

Reports further said a bench of 5 judges headed by the Chief Justice of India heard the matter.
