LAHORE Sep 30 (Online): ICC on Friday announced the commentary panel for the World Cup 2023 starting next month in India. Pakistan’s Rameez Raja and Waqar Younis are also part of the panel.
“ICC.tv’s coverage of the event will include a pre-match show, an innings break program and a post-match program,” the ICC said in a press release.
Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting and former England captain Eoin Morgan will join the coverage”, “They will be supported by Shane Watson, Lisa Staliker, Ramiz Raja, Ravi Shastri, Aaron Finch, Sunil Gavaskar and Matthew Hayden.
“The commentary box will see the return of Nasir Hussain, Ann Smith and Ann Bishop who made the 2019 World Cup final between England and New Zealand memorable.
“Former captains including Waqar Younis, Sean Pollock, Anjum Chopra and Michael Atherton will also call the action live from the commentary box.
He will be joined on the commentary panel by former international stars Simon Dole, Mpumalilo Mbangwa, Sanjay Manjrekar, Katie Martin, Dinesh Karthik, Dirk Nance, Samuel Badree, Athar Ali Khan and Russell Arnold.
“The panel will feature some of the world’s leading broadcasters who have contributed to iconic moments, including Harsha Bhogle, Cass Naidu, Mark Nicholls, Natalie Germanos, Mark Howard and Ann Ward,” the ICC added.
The ICC World Cup 2023 will be held in India with 10 teams fighting for the title at 10 venues from October 5 to November 19.
Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will host the opening and final of the tournament. The Cricket World Cup will be played in a round-robin format in which all teams will play a total of 45 league matches against each other.
The top four teams will qualify for the semi-finals, which will be held in Mumbai on November 15 and Kolkata on November 16. The semi-finals and finals will have reserve days.
