World Cup 2023: Pakistani fans hit back at India’s new version of ‘Mauka Mauka’

Islamabad SEPTEMBER 27 (Online): The arch-rivals will take on each other on October 14 in Ahmedabad.

The ICC Men’s ODI Cricket World Cup 2023 is set to begin in Ahmedabad with the finalists of the World Cup 2019, England and New Zealand, facing each other on October 5 at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad in India.

The much-anticipated match of the mega event will be played between the arch-rivals Pakistan and India on October 14 in Ahmedabad, where the Blues will look forward to recording their eighth World Cup win against Pakistan while the Green Shirts will look for their maiden win.

To spice this rivalry up, the official broadcaster of the mega event, Star Sports, brought the famous “Mauka Mauka” actor back to the screen as they released a new advertisement named “8KaWait” ahead of the World Cup.

The new advertisement refers to India’s impeccable record against Pakistan in the 50-over World Cup. The Blues have played seven matches against the Green Shirts and won all of them.

However, the advertisement wasn’t taken lightly by Pakistani fans who decided to hit back, reminding India of the T20 World Cup 2021 when the Men in Green handed India a humiliating defeat by 10 wickets.

Not just Pakistani, but some Indian fans also did not approve of the new commercial and showed their discontent.

Here is how fans on X, formerly known as Twitter, reacted to the advertisement.

Before the 2015 World Cup, Star Sports released a similar ad named “Mauka Mauka” which became a hit as India managed to beat Pakistan by 76 runs.

It must be noted that the Cricket World Cup will be played in the round-robin format with all teams playing against each other for a total of 45 league matches.

The top four teams will qualify for the semifinals, which will be held in Mumbai on November 15 and in Kolkata on November 16. The semi-finals and the final, on November 19, will have reserve days.
