LHC moved against charging taxes to consumers through electricity bills

LAHORE, AUG 29 (ONLINE): Inflated electricity bills and collection of taxes through these bills have been challenged in Lahore High Court (LHC).
Petition was filed by a citizen Sheikh Muhammad Latif making chairman WAPD and Chairman NEPRA respondents.

The petitioner has taken plea in the petition diverse taxes are being received from the consumers in electricity bills. FC surcharge, GST, TV fee, electricity duty and other taxes are being charged to consumers in electricity bills.

It has been said in the petition the superior courts have declared collection of different taxes of electricity illegal. Thousands of rupees is increased on the difference of one unit in bills.
He prayed that unprecedented hike in electricity bills has made the life of people miserable.

He requested the court to nullify charging taxes through electricity bills.
