COLOMBO July 27 (Online): Pakistan beat Sri Lanka by an innings and 222 runs in the second Test in Colombo, to clinch the series by 2-0. It is the largest margin of victory by runs for Pakistan in an away Test match.
This resounding victory not only secured Pakistan’s series win but also cemented their status as the team with the most Test series wins in Sri Lanka.
Furthermore, this defeat for Sri Lanka marked a significant milestone in their Test cricket history, as it became their largest margin of Test defeat on their home turf.
Comparing this victory to historical records, it surpassed a memorable match from the past when Sri Lanka faced a similarly crushing defeat against South Africa in 1993, where they lost by an innings and 208 runs.
In the opening Test in Galle, Pakistan had set the tone for the series by overcoming the hosts with a four-wicket win.
With this triumph, Pakistan has etched their name in the record books by securing their fifth Test series win in Sri Lanka.
