UNA, Ruptly to hold workshop on verification principles of news coverage

JEDDAH, Jul 13 (APP): The Union of OIC News Agencies (UNA) is set to host a virtual workshop on “How to Apply Verification Principles to News Coverage” on July 18, in cooperation with the international video news agency, Ruptly, the leading agency in the field of video news and investigative journalism.

The workshop aims to introduce the latest techniques in video validation and verification for the newsroom.
UNA Acting Director-General, Mohammed Abd Rabbo Al-Yami explained that the workshop comes as part of UNA’s endeavours to strengthen the role of news agencies in combating disinformation and fake news.

He indicated that the workshop will allow journalists of news agencies and media in Islamic countries to learn about the latest technologies in detecting disinformation methods that are constantly evolving and to identify the applications used in this aspect.

Dinara Toktosunova, Ruptly CEO said: “We are very grateful and happy to collaborate with UNA to carry out this verification workshop. We hope very much that our achievements and innovative approach in this sphere will help all the participants with the verification process. And we hope to continue co-operating with UNA in various areas.”
